mmigration officers have arrested a transgender Malaysian, Rafizi bin Muhammad Ismail, alias Reggeana Fiziana, 38, who was illegally applying for an Indonesian passport.

Batam Immigration Office head Erna Yunanti Murni said Ismail was arrested on Monday after the officers got suspicious when interviewing her, as she asked for the passport to give her the female identification of Reggeana.

Ismail, who had undergone a sex change operation in Thailand, said that she would use the passport to marry a student from an Arab country who was currently studying in Malaysia, said the office'€™s supervision and execution head, Rafli.

'€œShe will be deported, but she will first be processed under the existing law for faking documents,'€ Erna said.

Rafli said Ismail, who once worked in Jakarta in an IT company, was believed to have faked some documents stating that she was born in Jakarta on July 8, 1977 and lived in the Green Valis Apartments, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

After intensive questioning, Rafli said, Ismail or Reggeana admitted she was a Malaysian and had arrived in Batam from Subang, Malaysia, using a Malindo airplane on Sunday.
