Riser Shadaff Motorsport has received a funding boost from Sydney-based publicly listed firm Asia Pacific Digital (APG) as the Indonesian karting team is looking to step up its racing challenges this year.

'€œThis sponsorship is not just for two or three years. They will support us for as long as we race, but, of course, with the requirement that the drivers make the podium at the majority of the races we participate in this year,'€ team principal Bunjamin Noor told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Bunjamin said the APG partnership was owed to the team'€™s reveling performance during last year'€™s races in Malaysia and Indonesia. Ace driver Senna Noor qualified for the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Valencia, where he fell short of advancing to the final round.

'€œThis is a form of recognition for our racing success. I was surprised to be contacted by them,'€ Bunjamin said.

APG chief operating officer Peter Hynd said he was happy to cooperate with Riser Shadaff.

'€œWe hope cooperation with Riser Shadaff goes well and brings us success. Riser proves to be the only Indonesian racing team managed professionally with its four drivers,'€ he said in a media release.

He applauded the drivers'€™ consistent performance at the national karting race at the Sentul international circuit last week, with Senna and Shaquille Rekardianto taking runner-up positions in their respective classes.

Eight-year-old Sergio Noor was second in cadet comer and micromax while Barrichello Noor had to settle for fifth position in the junior class.

The drivers, under race instructors Didi Sukarja, will next head to Sepang, Malaysia, to take part in the Asia Max Challenge by the end of this month.

Bunjamin said the APG partnership had come at the right time with the team working on its driver pecking order.

'€œIt'€™s time for Senna to enter Touring Car. We hope either Barri or Shaquille is able to replace him,'€ he said.

He also hoped young drivers could accompany Senna to this year'€™s Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, which has yet to determine a venue.

APG is the fifth company to sponsor the team. Bunjamin said that a sixth will enter the fray soon pending an official announcement later this month.

'€œIt is a telecommunications company, but I can not disclose the name yet until we hold a press conference in the third week of this month,'€ he said.
