The Indonesian tennis team took a 2-0 lead over Iran in their opening matches in the Davis Cup Group II Asia Oceania zone in Palembang on Friday.
Christopher Rungkat opened Indonesia's scoring by thumping Shahin Khaleden 6-2, 6-1, 6-0 before Sunu Wahyu Trijati doubled the lead with a 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 win over Anoosha Shahgholi.
'I played the game with confidence because I was optimistic about winning,' Christo said as quoted in kompas.com.
Khaleden said he found difficulty in developing his game due to the heat. He also said that he was not accustomed to playing on hard courts.
In the second match, Sunu wrapped up his three-set win over Shahgholi with a love game in the third to avenge his previous loss in the 2012 meeting.
'I just tried to focus on my game against making unforced errors. I was lucky to have an opponent who had difficulties lifting his own game,' he said.
The hosts will have the chance to seal the tie 3-0 when Christo/David Agung Susanto face Amirvala Madanchi/Anoosha Shahgholi on Saturday.
