wo Cathay Pacific pilots were killed when they lost control of their Porsche car and crashed it into a curb in Kwai Chung in the early hours of Thursday.
The pilots, both 27 years, old, were off-duty at the time of the accident on Container Port Road South near Kwai Chung Container Terminal 8 at around 4 a.m., according to local media reports.
The sports car burst into flames after the crash and both men were trapped in the blazing wreckage, a police commander said.
Their bodies were already badly burnt when paramedics arrived at the scene, he added.
Cathay Pacific expressed condolences to the families of the two pilots, and said the carrier will provide all necessary support and assistance to the families.
The pair had spent the hours nearby chatting with three other friends before the crash, local media reported.
The police said a 2.5 metre-long tire mark was found on the road next to the car wreckage and that investigators are looking into all aspects of the crash, including the speed of the car and the driver's attitude, RTHK reported.
No traces of alcoholic drinks were found in the scene, the report said. (***)
