Kenyan woman, identified only by her initials OS, 33, has been arrested at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, for attempted drug-smuggling, having swallowed 68 capsules of methamphetamine weighing 654 grams.

Okto Irianto, the head of the Soekarno-Hatta immigration office, said that OS had been arrested by immigration officers on Feb. 24.

'€œThe woman works at a beauty parlor in her country. She graduated from a university,'€ deputy chairman of the airport police'€™s drug unit Comr. Subekti said as quoted by tempo.co Thursday.

Subekti said the woman swallowed the capsules in exchange for US$3,500 in cash under the orders of a Nigerian citizen identified only as S. '€œS ordered OS to swallow 70 capsules, two of which were then discharged at a toilet in Hong Kong,'€ he said.

The smuggling attempt began with S contacting a Nigerian citizen, identified as JP, who has been living in Jakarta for several months. JP, 33, who works as a textile trader at Tanah Abang market, has an Indonesian girlfriend, identified only as IM, 39.

S informed JP that the drugs would be brought into Indonesia.

Police have also arrested IM and JP at a hotel in the capital.
