n a bid to provide more space for people to work out as well as reduce gas emissions, the Central Jakarta municipality will hold a Car Free Day on Jl. Suryopranoto from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Central Jakarta Mayor said on Friday that the street would be closed to vehicles from the Harmoni intersection to Cideng Timur intersection.
'Enthusiasm for the program among people living in the vicinity is high,' he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Friday.
Central Jakarta Transportation Agency head Muslim said there would be a traffic detour during those hours.
He said road users traveling from Jl. Majapahit and Jl. Veteran could travel along Jl. Hasyim Ashari, while those coming from Jl. Kyai Caringin and Jl. Cideng Barat could travel along Jl. Hasyim Ashari.
'Public buses that usually pass Jl. Tanah Abang I will be detoured to Jl. Tanah Abang II,' he said.
