T

he Communications and Information Ministry stated on Tuesday that it had detected more than 70 networks related to Islamic State (IS) group propaganda while preparing a direct Internet network-blocking mechanism.

'€œMost of them are in blog format,'€ said Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara, adding that the ministry was still working on filtering social media posts related to terrorism.

Rudiantara said the ministry was cooperating with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), the National Police and other ministries to address the problem of online terrorist propaganda.

So far, he said, access-blocking had been carried out manually or according to specific complaints. '€œThe ministry plans to gradually apply a direct blocking system until the end of 2015. We will develop a so-called national DNS [domain name system]. Indonesia needs this capability,'€ the minister said as quoted by Antara news agency.

Rudiantara said that citizens could file complaints related to the existence of online terrorist propaganda to mail@kominfo.go.id or through the ministry'€™s official site http://portal.kominfo.go.id.

The government, he added, would soon form a panel to address various problems related to negative content on the Internet. '€œThe team will then issue recommendations to block the sites via the Communications and Information Ministry,'€ he said.(idk)(+++)
