The S&P 500 index fell 4.90 points, or 0.2 percent, to 2,056.15.

The Nasdaq composite fell 13.16 points, or 0.3 percent, to 4,863.36.

For the week:

The Dow is down 449.42 points, or 2.5 percent.

The S&P 500 index is down 51.95 points, or 2.5 percent.

The Nasdaq is down 163.06 points, or 3.2 percent.

For the year:

The Dow is down 144.84 points, or 0.8 percent.

The S&P 500 index is down 2.75 points, or 0.1 percent.
