he Jakarta Education Agency revealed that as many as 39 out of around 103,000 students did not show up on the first day of the senior high schools national exams on Monday due to medical reasons.
Agency head Arie Budhiman said Tuesday a number of other students were also not very healthy, but they still took the national exams as scheduled.
'We cannot force ill students to show up. However, some of them were highly motivated and insisted on doing their test while lying down,' Arie said Tuesday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
He said students who were sick this week could take make up exams in their schools next Monday.
This year marked the first year of the implementation of the Computer Based Test (CBT) system, which 30 schools in the capital city used.
