he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) wrapped up on Tuesday its investigation into former Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry secretary-general Waryono Karno in two separate graft cases plaguing the graft-ridden ministry.
'KPK prosecutors are currently completing their dossier on Waryono to prepare for his upcoming trial. He will stand trial within 14 days after the completion of his dossier,' KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha announced at the KPK headquarters on Tuesday.
Waryono has been declared a suspect in two separate graft cases at the ministry in which the former minister, Jero Wacik, was charged with extortion on Sept. 2, 2014. Waryono is considered Jero's accomplice because he has been implicated in graft cases in which Jero has been charged.
In January 2014, Waryono was charged with accepting a gratuity when serving as the ministry's secretary-general.
The money allegedly came from former Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKKMigas) head Rudi Rubiandini, who was sentenced to seven years in a separate bribery case, to be given to the House of Representatives Commission VIII overseeing energy and minerals.
The KPK later charged former House Commission VII chairman Sutan Bhatoegana with accepting the money from Waryono in a move to coax members of Commission VIII to ease the deliberation of the ministry's budget at the House.
In May, the KPK slapped another corruption charge on Waryono after finding that he had allegedly collaborated with officials at the ministry to rig a number of state projects worth Rp 25 billion.
