olice have arrested Samuel Hiantono, an agent for online Singapore gambling, known as Togel Singapore, at his Kalideres residence in West Jakarta on Wednesday.
Togel Singapore is a form of gambling in which gamblers select four-digit lucky numbers and wait to see if they come up at a lottery center in Singapore and are announced via the Internet.
Jakarta Police Mobile Detective Unit V head Comr. Handik Zusen said the 44-year-old man had been running the lottery through mobile phone services and made about Rp 50 million (US$3,888) per month.
'The suspect contacted his customers through text messages, WhatsApp and Line,' Zusen said on Thursday.
Hiantono has been charged under Article 303 of the Criminal Code on gambling and Law No. 8/2010 on money laundering.
