tate-owned telecommunications giant PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) announced on Friday during a shareholders meeting that its dividend payout ratio had hit 60 percent this year, lower than its 70 percent last year.
With the dividend payout ratio of 60 percent, the company will allot Rp 8.76 trillion (US$682 million) from its Rp 14.6 trillion in net profit last year for dividends this year.
Last year alone, Telkom made Rp 9.9 trillion in dividend payments, or 70 percent of its 2013 net profit.
"With the dividend payout ratio of 60 percent, we're expected to be aggressive," said Telkom president director Alex Sinaga.
State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno said previously that the government would reduce dividend payout ratio for a number of state enterprises to provide more space for the concerned companies to expand.
Alex said that Telkom aimed to strengthen its existing international footprints in 10 counties and review other international expansion opportunity in the Asia-Pacific region this year. (koi)(+++)
