ational Police chief of detectives Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso said on Wednesday that the inauguration ceremony of Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as National Police deputy chief was off limits to the press as it was considered highly classified according to police culture.
"It was strictly confidential. No one except authorized personnel were allowed to witness the inauguration. It was an internal affair," said Budi Waseso, a crony of Budi Gunawan.
Budi Gunawan was officially sworn in during a closed-door ceremony at 2 p.m. at the National Police headquarters on Jl. Trunojoyo, South Jakarta.
National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anton Charliyan said that the confidentiality of the inauguration was agreed upon by police officers of the highest ranks. Anton and Budi Waseso were former staff of Budi Gunawan.
State Secretary Pratikno said earlier that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo had not received notification from the National Police concerning the inauguration. (ren)(++++)
