President busy, not informed of Budi's inauguration: Pratikno

S

tate Secretary Pratikno said on Wednesday that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo was occupied with the Asian-African Conference Commemoration (AACC) and was not aware or informed about the inauguration of Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as National Police deputy chief.

"How can the President know of (of the inauguration) if he has been occupied since this morning?" said Pratikno.

Budi was officially sworn in during a closed-door ceremony at 2 p.m. at the National Police headquarters on Jl. Trunojoyo, South Jakarta.

Pratikno said earlier that the President was not notified about the inauguration.

Budi is a close associate of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's party patron, Megawati Soekarnoputri. He is also close to Vice President Jusuf Kalla and chairmen of major political parties. (ren)(++++)
