Eight villages in Banjarsari district, Lebak, have been inundated following heavy rain in the regency.
The acting head of the Lebak Disaster Mitigation Agency, Kaprawi, said that he had received a report that at least 330 houses in the eight villages had been inundated by flooding up to 1.5 meters high.
He added that he had deployed a number of personnel and volunteers to evacuate villagers and distribute humanitarian relief to the displaced.
He also called on villagers living on the edge of the Cimoyan and Ciliman Rivers to remain alert in anticipation of worsening conditions, since it was continually raining during the transition from the rainy season to the dry season.
'We will distribute logistical aid and help evacuate villagers. We have to remain alert in anticipation of heavy downpours and major floods because of the high rainfall,' he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
Kaprawi added that the regency administration had distributed rice, instant noodles, mineral water and blankets and had deployed health workers to provide medical aid to villagers evacuated to places of safety.
No fatalities from the floods have been reported. (rms)(+++)
