Girl named after Asian-African Conference

A

bajaj (three-wheeled taxi) driver has named his daughter after the commemoration of the Asian-African Conference, after he was involved in the 60th anniversary of the conference commemoration as a transportation provider for tourists.

45-year-old Sudarso named his newborn daughter Diva Bragawati KAA, three days after Sudarso arrived in Bandung, West Java. Bragawati was a reference to Jl Braga, the street where the Merdeka Building is located and the place where the Bandung Conference was held in 1955.

Diva was born in the Central Java town of Kudus on Apr. 21 as the second child of Sudarso and Rohimah, 24.

"I just put the abbreviation KAA [the Indonesian abbreviation for Asian-African conference] as the name and my wife agreed. I didn'€™t prepare the name beforehand, it just came out," said Sudarso who has been a bajaj driver in Jakarta since 2006.

"I haven'€™t seen my baby, I hope she will become a great person and our pride," he said in Bandung as quoted by Antara news agency.(+++)
