The House of Representatives (DPR) will recess for three weeks starting Monday to end its third sitting period.
The legislators ended the third sitting period after endorsing the 2015 government regulation in lieu on law (Perppu) on the Corruption Eradication Commission in a plenary session on Friday.
In the Perppu, the President is appointing Taufiqurrahman Ruki as acting KPK chairman to replace Abraham Samad, Indriyanto Seno Adjie as deputy KPK chairman to replace Bambang Widjojanto and Johan Budi as deputy KPK chairman to replace Busyro Muqoddas, who has entered his retirement age.
Abraham and Bambang have been named suspects for their alleged involvements in different cases in the past.
The House's Commission III on law, which deliberated the Perppu, has questioned the elimination of a maximum age for KPK leaders and the capacity of Johan Budi, since he never studied law.
But all 10 factions at the commission finally accepted the Perppu and agreed to bring it to the plenary session for endorsement.
The House will enter its fourth sitting period on May 18 and during the recess most legislators will go to their own electoral districts to meet their constituents. (rms)(+++)
