AKARTA: Ari Lasso has offered to sing one of his hit songs at a charity auction.
The 42-year-old singer raised Rp 3.5 million (US$270) to sing 'Kangen' (Longing), the song that shot him to fame with his former band, Dewa 19.
'This song helped me to enter the music industry 23 years ago' Ari said, as quoted by tribunnews.com on Friday. 'I auctioned this song for children's education.'
Bidding on the performance of 'Kangen' started at Rp 2.5 million and was sold to a member of the audience named Evan, who offered the winning bid, the website reported.
The auction, part of a charity night for children, was also attended by other artists, such as Vina Panduwinata and Bebi Romeo.
