AKARTA: Ari Lasso has offered to sing one of his hit songs at a charity auction.

The 42-year-old singer raised Rp 3.5 million (US$270) to sing '€œKangen'€ (Longing), the song that shot him to fame with his former band, Dewa 19.

'€œThis song helped me to enter the music industry 23 years ago'€ Ari said, as quoted by tribunnews.com on Friday. '€œI auctioned this song for children'€™s education.'€

Bidding on the performance of '€œKangen'€ started at Rp 2.5 million and was sold to a member of the audience named Evan, who offered the winning bid, the website reported.

The auction, part of a charity night for children, was also attended by other artists, such as Vina Panduwinata and Bebi Romeo.
