he National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) requested assistance from the Jakarta Police to arrest Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan in the wee hours of Friday, acting Jakarta Police chief spokesman Sr. Comr. Budi Widjanarko said on Friday.
Budi said the request was submitted by Bareskrim's General Crimes Directorate (Ditreskrimum) for reinforcement in arresting Novel at his house in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
He added that the reinforcement was taken from Jakarta Police's Violent Crimes Subdirectorate (Jatanras) under Ditreskrimum, which provided 10 personnel.
"Their duty was to assist in the arrest. They accompanied the Bareskrim team," Budi said as quoted by kompas.com.
Jatanras officers usually handle violent crimes such as thuggery and murder. The subdirectorate, for example, arrested underworld figures John Kei and Hercules in 2012 and 2014, respectively. (nvn)
