Guess what?: Anggun pens another open letter

JP/Awo

Anggun C. Sasmi has written another open letter opposing the death penalty.

Previously, the Indonesian-born chanteuse wrote an open letter to President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo. This time, she'€™s addressing the Indonesian people.

'€œI truly believe we cannot fight crime by killing criminals,'€ the 41-year-old naturalized French citizen said in the letter, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Anggun said that though criminals had to be punished, they should not pay with their lives. '€œThe death penalty is inhumane and does nothing to prevent crimes.'€

The singer also had some words for her Internet haters.

'€œYou will find it useless to mock me, because no matter how abusive the words you are throwing at me, they will not change my opinion,'€ Anggun said.
