Anggun C. Sasmi has written another open letter opposing the death penalty.
Previously, the Indonesian-born chanteuse wrote an open letter to President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo. This time, she's addressing the Indonesian people.
'I truly believe we cannot fight crime by killing criminals,' the 41-year-old naturalized French citizen said in the letter, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Anggun said that though criminals had to be punished, they should not pay with their lives. 'The death penalty is inhumane and does nothing to prevent crimes.'
The singer also had some words for her Internet haters.
'You will find it useless to mock me, because no matter how abusive the words you are throwing at me, they will not change my opinion,' Anggun said.
