he National Mandate Party (PAN) will not support any political investigations into Law and Human Rights Affairs Minister Yasonna H. Laoly, or Jakarta governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama because it does not want to be involved in political chaos.
PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan said political chaos worked against the party's goal to serve the people.
'In the eyes of the public, the image of political parties is no longer good. Many political conflicts have happened and do not relate with the people's daily lives. If this condition continues, political parties will likely lose their legitimacy. This is the reason why PAN is not involved in the political chaos,' he said after closing the party's meeting here on Thursday night.
According to him, the internal conflicts in the Golkar Party and United Development Party should be settled in court.
The Aburizal Bakrie-led Golkar faction has proposed a political investigation into Yasonna, who issued a ministerial decree to recognize Agung Laksono's leadership of the whole Golkar Party, while the Jakarta City Council was carrying out a political investigation into Ahok for having declined to submit his draft budget to be endorsed by the council, only sending it to the Home Ministry for approval.
