AKARTA: The Jakarta Police arrested two alleged drug traffickers on Jl. Hayam Wuruk, Gambir, Central Jakarta, confiscating 509 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

The police'€™s narcotics deputy director, Adj. Sr. Comr. Wahyu Bintono, said the suspects, identified only as R, a security guard in the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), and S, a private employee, were caught when an undercover police officer posed as a customer.

'€œWe received a tip-off from residents on Monday about alleged trafficker R and nabbed him and his friend on the same day,'€ he said on Friday.

The police estimate the value of the drugs at Rp 764 million (US$58,256).

The suspects will be charged under articles 114 and 112 of Law No. 35/2009 on drugs, which carries a minimum five-year prison term and maximum sentence of death.
