tate-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II has been operating four free buses to transport passengers from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Pantai Indah Kapuk in North Jakarta and Rawa Bokor in Tangerang, Banten, for the last two weeks.
PT Angkasa Pura II director Ituk Herarindri said the buses currently had a capacity of about 25 passengers and only served those two destinations.
'We plan to add more routes in the future to give customers more choices,' he said on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.
Senior general manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Zaulfahmi, said buses would mainly run during rush hour and on weekends, when it would be difficult for taxis to enter the airport area due to road congestion.
Currently, state-owned bus company Damri has provided shuttle buses to transport airport passengers, serving 19 routes covering Greater Jakarta and certain areas in Banten and West Java, with fares ranging from Rp 40,000 (US$3) to Rp 65,000.
