he Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the government had no intention of expelling Rohinggyan refugees or of accommodating them on an uninhabited island.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir said in a statement on Friday that Indonesia had no plans to accommodate Rohingyan refugees on an uninhabited island as reported by The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

'€œWhat Indonesia is doing is accommodating refugees, just as the government has done with 582 refugees in Aceh,'€ he said.

Arrmanatha said that Indonesia would cooperate with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to handle refugees.

'€œAfter the refugees are given accommodation, the IOM will take over their handling,'€ he said. (rms)
