he National Police are searching for people who allegedly used the services of a pimp identified only as RA.
RA is suspected of running a high-end prostitution ring, charging clients up to Rp 200 million (US$15,500) for a 'short-time service.'
'So far only the pimp is being charged and we have yet to investigate who RA's clients were. We might charge the clients,' the National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anton Charliyan said as quoted by kompas.com.
He said that the police suspected some of RA's clients were government officials who got the service as part of a gratuity.
In investigating the involvement of officials in the prostitution ring, Anton said the police would collaborate with the anticorruption directorate at the National Police.
Gratuity is subject to Law No. 20/2001 on corruption eradication.
In past cases, high-end prostitution was often part of bribe packages to politicians or officials, such as the graft case involving Izedrik Emir Moeis, a politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and former Corruption Court judge Setyabudi Tejocahyono.
