ormer president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) has slammed Energy Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said, who he said accused him of refusing to liquidate Pertamina Energy Trading Ltd. (Petral) when he was in power.
'I am astounded by the statement of Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said, who has attacked and discredited me when I was the president. Sudirman was quoted by Republika Online as saying that the fight against oil and gas cabal stopped at SBY's desk,' SBY said on his Facebook account.
He also said no recommendation on liquidating Petral had reached his desk, and that he had set up a task force to eliminate the oil and gas cabal.
'No sides came to me to propose Petral's liquidation. I want to repeat, nobody came to me with a proposal to liquidate Petral. If there was such a proposal, I would have responded seriously,' he said.
Petral, a unit of state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, was recently liquidated by the government as it was found to have caused state losses. President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo recently ordered a comprehensive audit of Petral by independent auditors.
Pertamina earned US$220 million from the oil trade in 2013-2014
SBY stressed that he was serious about fighting the oil and gas cabal during his presidency. (rms)(++++)
