National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) team recovered on Tuesday the body of Eri Yunanto, 21, an Atmajaya University student who fell into the Mount Merapi crater three days ago.
A Basarnas team member, Basuki, who participated in the rescue operation, said the SAR team descended 100 meters into the crater and lifted the man's body to the edge of the crater.
'The SAR team started the removal operation at 6 a.m. and lifted the body to the edge of the crater at about 11:40 a.m.,' said Basuki as quoted by Antara after Tuesday's rescue operation in Selo, Boyolali, Central Java.
He said the SAR team was fully equipped with safety gear. All team personnel wore fireproof overalls and were equipped with oxygen masks to deal with the danger of the high temperature and poisonous gas.
Eri fell about 150 meters into the Mt. Merapi crater in Boyolali, Central Java, on Saturday.
