he National Police confiscated on Tuesday 49 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices from 49 schools across West and Central Jakarta in relation to suspected graft in the 2014 city budget.
National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto said the confiscation was carried out by the police's anticorruption directorate.
He said the police had sent foreclosure letters to the schools and asked that the UPS devices not be used.
He added that 25 of the UPS were located in schools in West Jakarta, while the remainder were in Central Jakarta.
Earlier in the year, Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama revealed that there were various irregularities in the 2014 budget, including the procurement of UPS devices for dozens of state schools in West and Central Jakarta.
The allocation for the UPS devices in each school amounted to as much as Rp 5.8 billion (US$440,472) per unit.
