AKARTA: Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama and Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Yohana Susana Yembise have inaugurated a child-friendly park in Kembangan Utara, West Jakarta.
Yohana said during the inauguration ceremony on Friday that she appreciated the administration's efforts to make the city more child-friendly.
'The facility will be very useful for the growth of children,' she said, adding that playing in the park could improve children's psycho-motor and cognitive abilities.
The park is equipped with various facilities, including a playground, a library, a sports field, a small stage for community activities and Wi-Fi connection. It is funded by private entities through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
Yohana said she hoped that the city became a role model for other provinces in Indonesia. Besides the one in Kembangan Utara, the city has inaugurated five other similar parks located in Cideng in Central Jakarta, Cililitan and Pulogadung in East Jakarta, Gandaria Selatan in South Jakarta and on Untung Jawa Island in the Thousands Islands.
