AKARTA: In a bid to strengthen cooperation between Jakarta and Seoul, the Seoul municipal administration has offered cooperation in various sectors, including waste management, electricity supply and smart city projects.
Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said after meeting with Seoul Deputy Mayor Jong Seok-im at City Hall on Friday that the delegation offered more business cooperation with the Jakarta city administration.
'They have helped us clean the Ciliwung River. They want more cooperation, especially in waste management, electricity and smart city projects,' he said.
Ahok said they had also talked about South Korea's automotive makers Daewoo and Hyundai, which no longer produced Transjakarta buses.
The governor said, however, that no concrete decisions had been made at the meeting.
'We will meet again,' he said, adding that he had suggested that cooperation could also be conducted through a business-to-business plan.
'They could cooperate with [city-owned property developer] PT Jakarta Propertindo,' he said.
