URBALINGGA: Traffic offenders in Purbalingga, Central Java, will not get tickets if they can learn the Pancasila state ideology by heart. The Purbalingga Police are applying the unprecedented policy during June to commemorate Pancasila Sanctity Day.

'€œHowever, if they don'€™t memorize it in order, we will give them tickets in accordance with the offences they have committed,'€ Purbalingga Traffic Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sudarsono told the media on Friday.

Most offenders, he said, were unable to recite Pancasila when they were caught violating traffic regulations. '€œEven civil servants and students do not memorize Pancasila. This is strange, and we should take note,'€ Sudarsono said.

He added that the use of Pancasila in the program was intended to promote community ethics and spirit.
