Three ministries signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build 1 million houses for low-income people
Three ministries signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build 1 million houses for low-income people.
"This is to support the government's program for the people, which has been launched by President Joko [Jokowi] Widodo in Ungaran, Central Java, last April," Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said as quoted by Antara news agency.
Those included in the low-income category are fishermen, hard laborers, civil servants, soldiers and police officers.
Under the MoU, the Home Ministry will cooperate with the ministries of public works and public housing, as well as agrarian affairs and spatial planning.
"In its implementation, the program involves the participation of representatives of the Real Estate Indonesia and state-owned banks BTN [Bank Tabungan Negara] and BNI [Bank Negara Indonesia]," Tjahjo said. (hhr)(+++)
