he Jakarta Transportation Agency has revealed that despite of its newly completed and clean facilities, Pulo Gebang Terminal in East Jakarta would not be available to accommodate passengers during the annual Idul Fitri holiday.
The agency's deputy head, Pargaulan Butar-Butar, said Tuesday that the operation of the terminal was being delayed by a licensing issue.
'The Transportation Ministry has yet to issue licenses for intercity and interprovincial buses to enter the nearest toll road,' Pargaulan said at the Pulo Gadung Terminal as quoted by wartakota.com.
As the result, many passengers will be packing into the Pulo Gadung Terminal, also in East Jakarta, during the holiday.
Pulo Gebang Terminal was designed as a modern and integrated bus terminal, which was expected to replace the crowded and chaotic Pulo Gadung Terminal to serve both inner city and intercity transportation routes. Pulo Gebang Terminal, which cost Rp 448 billion (US$33 million) to complete, was one of the biggest terminal revitalization projects in the capital city.
