ice President Jusuf Kalla is scheduled on Tuesday to attend various activities in the Poso regency, Central Sulawesi, including the "Poso Peak Harmony" event.
The event will be launched to show that Poso has returned to being a peaceful and safe place for residents, as there is no longer a conflict there.
From the late 1990s to the mid-2000s, Poso was home to a sectarian conflict
between Muslims and Christians. Thousands of Christians and Muslims became the victims of the lengthy conflict. Although the conflict officially ended with the signing of the Malino Accords in 2001 and 2002, the region remains a terrorism hotbed.
Kalla, on his capacity as a vice president at that time, took part in the process of settling the conflict.
Other activities he will attend on Tuesday include a visit to the hydropower generation facility in Poso, which is billed as the biggest in Sulawesi.
During the visit, Kalla will be accompanied by Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, detik.com reported. (hhr)(+++)
