he Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has officially nominated incumbent Surabaya, East Java, Mayor Tri '€œRisma'€ Rismaharini for re-election for the 2016-2021 period in the upcoming local elections.

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said in Surabaya on Wednesday that the party decided to nominate Risma and Wisnu in the election after the pair met all administrative and legal requirements and they were found to be most suitable to lead the city following their success of the past five years.

He called on party functionaries, members and supporters in the city to take part in an active campaign to win the majority votes for the pair in the election.

'€œThe party has asked the pair to register with the local general election commission [KPUD] and I will donate five cows to any party chapter winning the majority of votes in their own area of the city,'€ he said.

Hasto said his party was open to forming a coalition with other parties to support the pair. Meanwhile, Risma, wearing the party'€™s red uniform, said she was ready to take up the party'€™s mandate to improve the welfare of Surabaya residents.

'€œI will do my best to work with Wisnu to develop Surabaya,'€ she said.(++++)
