ew research commissioned by the World Bank (WB) reveals that prioritizing energy efficiency will accelerate progress toward achieving global targets to give wider access to modern energy, such as electricity, to people who need it.
The bank says the report entitled 'EA+EE (Energy Access and Energy Efficiency)' has identified a close relation between energy efficiency and access to energy. The report examines eight new energy-access projects funded by the WB and it concludes that energy efficiency can expand the impact of projects in the future to achieve universal energy access.
Such measures can also promote progress toward achieving the targets of the bank's Sustainable Energy for All (SE4A11) program, which aims to ensure that all people in the world can have access to affordable electricity by 2030.
Based on WB data, around 1.1 billion people in countries across the world do not have access to electricity leading them to suffer social and economic obstacles.(ebf)(+++)
