Investigators from the National Police'€™s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) are set to question former Bandung mayor Dada Rosada over his alleged involvement in a graft case surrounding the development of the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api stadium in Gedebage, Bandung, West Java, a senior officer has said.

'€œHe [Dada] will likely face questioning; but, I cannot give you details on when it will take place,'€ Bareskrim chief Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso said as quoted by kompas.com on Sunday.

Budi said the investigators were of an opinion that Dada was the one who was most responsible for the development of the sport stadium because its construction activities were conducted when he served as Bandung mayor.

'€œIt is a definite fact that he knew well and was responsible for the development of the sport stadium,'€ Budi said. As of today, police investigators have named only Yayat Ahmad

Sudrajat, former secretary of the Bandung administration'€™s spatial planning and human settlement (Cipta Karya) agency, as a suspect in the case.

Budi declined to comment on whether the police would raise Dada'€™s status to suspect in the corruption case. The former mayor's naming as a suspect would depend on results of the police investigation into evidence they obtained, he added.

'€œIf investigators believe there is solid evidence, it is automatic that the police will raise his status [to suspect]. But we will see later. As of now, his status remains as a witness,'€ Budi said.

He further explained that police investigators were also still waiting for results of the Development Finance Comptroller'€™s (BPKP) audit of state losses in the corruption case. He hoped the BPKP could issue its investigation result soon as the police needed to complete their investigation document on the case. (ebf)(++++)
