ndonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) deputy chairman for finance and banking, Rosan Roeslani, said he was ready to cooperate with the new ministers that President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo had appointed during a Cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday.
'Kadin is ready to cooperate with and help the new economics team. Congratulations to the newly appointed ministers,' said Rosan in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday as quoted by Antara.
Rosan welcomed President Jokowi's announcement of the reshuffle of six ministers and non-ministry government officials, saying that the widespread rumors of a Cabinet reshuffle over the last two months had created uncertainty among businesspeople.
He said the President's Cabinet reconfiguration showed that the government seriously aimed to improve various internal problems that had disrupted the national economy.
'This is a very important message for Indonesian business. At least it will reduce uncertainty and the rumors that have been spreading all this time,' said Rosan.
'Indonesia needs a world-class economist; otherwise, the economic reforms the government is carrying out may overlap and run inconsistently. Pak Darmin as a senior economist with vast experience in tax and monetary affairs will certainly inspire hope,' said Rosan.
President Jokowi reshuffled two economics ministers in his Cabinet: Sofyan Djalil, who was replaced by Darmin, was appointed to serve as the national development planning minister/head of the National Development Planning Agency; and Rachmat Gobel, whose was replaced as trade minister by Thomas Lembong.
