Two killed in exchange of fire between police and alleged terrorists

T

wo people were killed in the mountainous village of Kilo, Poso Pesisir Utara district in Central Sulawesi on Wednesday during an exchange of fire between the police and suspected terrorists.

Tempo.co reported that the casualties were First Insp. Bryan Tatontos, a member of the police'€™s Mobile Brigade (Brimob), and a civilian who was thought to belong to an armed group.

The alleged terrorists are believed to be members of the Santoso group.

Sabar Subagyo, aka Daeng Koro, was killed when police officers and armed civilians shot at each other during a security operation in Parigi Moutong in April. Daeng Koro was believed to be a leader of the Santoso-led terrorist group, which was reported to have from 20 to 30 members.

Central Sulawesi Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Hari Suprapto confirmed Wednesday'€™s incident. He said that one body was being recovered from the location.

'€œOne body is in the process of being recovered. If the identity of the body and the chronology of the shooting are clear, we will make a report,'€ Hari was quoted as saying on Thursday. (++++)
