FIFA to visit Indonesia for investigation: Minister Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi: (Kompas) (Kompas)

Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi said on Friday that world soccer governing body FIFA would send a team to investigate the condition of Indonesian soccer in October.

'€œSoon FIFA will deploy an investigation team together with the government and after that we can make a decision,'€ he said, as quoted by kompas.com.

Imam added that Indonesia would take advantage of FIFA'€™s visit to support the development of Indonesian soccer.

'€œWe will explain everything to FIFA,'€ he said.

Indonesia was hit by a FIFA ban following the government'€™s decision to suspend the Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI).

The government decided to suspend the PSSI earlier this year after the organization refused to act on the ministry'€™s recommendations, made through the Indonesian Professional Sports Body (BOPI), on clubs'€™ eligibility for the Indonesian Super League (ISL).

The absence of the PSSI led to FIFA'€™s decision to ban Indonesia from entering any international soccer competitions.

Imam said he hoped FIFA'€™s visit would bring an end to the country'€™s soccer crisis. (edn/ika)
