T

he Jakarta Social Agency is set to launch E-Natura, a card aimed at providing easier access to assistance for victims of natural disasters.

The agency'€™s head of the social protection division, Djafar Muchlisin, said the card, issued in cooperation with a number of banks and retailers, was for non-cash transactions only.

Victims will be able to obtain staple needs such as food, clothing and blankets by showing the card at the appointed retailers.

'€œPreviously, we had warehouses and transportation to distribute the aid, but found it ineffective. With the cards, the victims will only need to show their cards,'€ he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

Distribution of the card, Djafar added, would be under the supervision of subdistricts as they would hold disaster victims'€™ data.
