he Jakarta Social Agency is set to launch E-Natura, a card aimed at providing easier access to assistance for victims of natural disasters.
The agency's head of the social protection division, Djafar Muchlisin, said the card, issued in cooperation with a number of banks and retailers, was for non-cash transactions only.
Victims will be able to obtain staple needs such as food, clothing and blankets by showing the card at the appointed retailers.
'Previously, we had warehouses and transportation to distribute the aid, but found it ineffective. With the cards, the victims will only need to show their cards,' he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Distribution of the card, Djafar added, would be under the supervision of subdistricts as they would hold disaster victims' data.
