Your comments on the rare rebuke by President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo of newly appointed Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Rizal Ramli who criticized Vice President Jusuf Kalla recently:

Through the Nawacita (nine priority programs) President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo has made clear the government'€™s programs. Certainly he needs support from ministers to achieve the government'€™s goals.

In my opinion, Jokowi'€™s message to Rizal Ramli is clear. However, Rizal'€™s criticism of the government'€™s program must be supplied with accurate facts and data.

As a leader Jokowi should be able to address what his minister points out without sacrificing the government'€™s goal.

The coordination among ministries then becomes a crucial point. The President plays an important role as a conductor who leads the Cabinet, resembling an orchestra performing a beautiful song.

'€œPak Jokowi cannot just sit still and watch these two giants fight it out...'€

Are they two giants?

Plato, Newton, Einstein, Rizal, Kalla....

Or even better: '€œSo please settle the distribution of tasks and keep it out of the public eye'€. Yup, nothing like good old opacity in the government!

The Cabinet reshuffle by President Jokowi was an effort to establish better coordination between ministers and also among coordinating ministers.

However, one of the coordinating ministers soon after his inauguration, instead of doing his coordination tasks, started to publicly criticize policies of several other ministries outside his portfolio.

Of course, this caused a rift between him and the relevant ministers and worse with the Vice President as well.

To fulfill the President'€™s wish to have a well performing Cabinet we don'€™t need Brutus characters in the Cabinet.

It is clearly unethical for a minister to attack government policies. Such an attitude will damage the credibility of the President and his government.

He needs to read more and talk less['€¦] The President is in need of working aides and not uproars.

It seems that Rizal Ramli is more mouth than brain. Starting his job, he should keep silent while working to accomplish his daily tasks.
