hinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xie Feng visited the Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution on Friday afternoon to discuss matters relating to the high-speed rail project, only two days after a Japanese delegation visited Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Rizal Ramli.
According to Darmin, the discussion included aspects related to the proposed high-speed rail connecting Jakarta and Bandung, such as costs and impact on the economy.
"Basically our government wants the investor candidates to explain more about the impact of the development. Then we will submit it to the President, hopefully tomorrow, whether he wants to use it or not," said Darmin on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
Previously, a Japanese delegation went to see Rizal on Wednesday to discuss the prospects of the 200-kilometer high-speed rail that is expected to connect Jakarta to Bandung in 36 minutes.
The Japanese delegation included a special envoy of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Hiroto Izumi, consultants from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and several officials from the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia. (kes)
