eten Masduki was officially made the new presidential chief of staff when President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inaugurated him on Wednesday morning.
The position was vacant after the previous presidential chief of staff Luhut Panjaitan was recently appointed as the coordinating political, legal and security affairs minister.
'I will stay loyal to the Constitution and adhere to all the laws and rules that apply to the Republic of Indonesia,' Teten stated in his oath as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
Prior to the inauguration, Johny Lumintang was said to be a strong candidate although no confirmation was made. Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung declined to answer when asked by tribunnews.com about Johny's candidacy.
Even Teten himself said that he didn't know who was going to be appointed for the position when tribunnews.com asked him prior to the inauguration.
'The name [of the candidate] is still in the pocket of the president,' said Teten previously.
Teten was a member of the presidential communications team prior to his promotion. (rad/kes)
