he Jakarta city administration has denied a claim by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) that it over-priced a land purchase, and lied about its whereabouts, for the expansion of Sumber Waras Hospital in West Jakarta.
'The data that we have, shows that [the land] is located on Jl. Kyai Tapa. Please provide evidence if you say the location is not on Jl. Kyai Tapa,' said head of city finance and asset management Heru Budi Hartono in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Previously, chair of BPK's Jakarta chapter Efdinal said on Monday that the land purchased by the city administration could not be accessed from Jl. Kyai Tapa, but was on Jl. Tomang Utara. He said that the price of the land should be cheaper based on (comparable) taxable values of property (NJOP).
On Tuesday Heru showed to the press that the certificate and tax document of the land confirmed that it was on Jl. Kyai Tapa. 'When you buy land, the highest level of property documentation is the certificate,' he said as reported by beritajakarta.com.
The BPK had earlier sent a note to Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama saying that the land-purchase price was too high. The BPK said the land could have been bought for Rp 564.35 billion (US$38.75 million), which would have saved the city Rp 191 billion.
The Jakarta Council has set up a special team to investigate the Sumber Waras land purchase and questioned Ahok's decision to buy the plot of land. (bbn)(++++)
