69-year-old Australian was found dead recently in a hotel room in Legian, Denpasar, Bali, the Kuta Police reported on Monday.
The Sydney man, identified as Maurice Garnet Berry, was found dead at Surya Dewata Beach Cottage on Saturday afternoon by a hotel staff member. The worker became suspicious after Berry, who had been living at the hotel for past two years, had not left his room on that day.
Berry's body was later taken to Sanglah Hospital morgue for examination.
'The external examination found no signs of violence. There were no bruises or wounds,' Sanglah forensic team head Ida Bagus Putu Alit said.
The forensic team would need to do a complete autopsy to ascertain the cause of death, Alit said.
Kuta Police's general crime unit head Adj. Comr. Slamet said preliminary investigations had found that the victim had died from illness, but that they were still investigating.
