Smiles for speed: State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno poses with China Railway chief engineer He Huawu (Left) during the âChina High Speed Railway on Fast Track Exhibitionâ at Senayan City mall in Jakarta, in August

Your comments on State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno's recent disclosure that China had agreed to carry out a high-speed rail project under a business-to-business scheme with no state funding or government guarantee involved.
I thought that President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo canceled this project in favor of another slower speed train?

We have to know what's put in the letter of intent (LOI), Memorandum of understanding (MOU) or contract of the bullet train between State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno and Chinese government officials.
I think only Rizal Ramli, the coordinating economic minister, can get the explanation and conclusions about the recent disclosure from Rini regarding the bullet train that caused the wider public to be at odds.
Both of them are part of President Jokowi's inner circle. They know best.

To establish and operate a bullet train from Jakarta to Bandung is really a waste of money.
To carry out a bullet train project serving Jakarta-Semarang-Surabaya based on a business-to-business scheme would be very attractive and logical.
I wonder whether it is possible for us to carry out such a giant project.
