Police investigators are looking into a case in which an 8-year-old student at public elementary school SDN 07 Pagi in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, was allegedly beaten to death by a classmate.
'We're currently interviewing several witnesses, including the teacher and the victim's mother,' the Kebayoran Lama Police's women and child protection unit head Adj. Comr. Nunu Supadmi said as quoted by kompas.com on Saturday.
The second-grader, Anggrah Ardiansyah, reportedly got into a fight with his classmate, identified as Ricard, during a drawing class at the school on Friday morning. Kebayoran Lama Police chief Comr. Riftajudin said that Ricard allegedly punched Anggrah in the chest and kicked him in the head.
Your comments:
The big question that comes to mind is where was the teacher prior and during the fight? Children occasionally fight, but it should never happen in a classroom with adult supervision, unless of course, the teacher wasn't in class, which happens too often in this country.
A child drowned at a private school and the teacher was suspended for possible negligence, whereas, this teacher is called as a 'witness'. What did this teacher do? Stand by and watch the fight, or return to class after the child was assaulted?
Will
I want to know if Ricard used a weapon. It would be very unusual for an 8-year-old, and using only hands and feet, to possess the strength to kill another of the same age.
Tracy
I wonder what Ricard now feels or what his parents feel. Do they feel remorse?
