Film director Ifa Isfansyah has one condition for his next project '€” no romantic dramas.

'€œI'€™m all for challenging projects, new and fresh genres, rather than romantic drama,'€ he said as reported by tribunnews.com on Thursday.

The director of action-packed legend-themed Pendekar Tongkat Emas was interviewed at the Fukuoka Film Festival.

Ifa, 35, said that 90 percent of Indonesian films fell into the drama genre.

'€œA film of any other genre is a rare gem in the film industry. It is a challenge for our filmmakers.'€

Two years ago, Ifa and his wife '€” filmmaker Kamila Andini, daughter of noted director Garin Nugroho '€” established a film academy currently educating 55 students.

'€œOur whole family supports the film industry. I hope things go well,'€ Ifa said.
