Sterling all-round displays seal victories in JCA League

MIS CC recorded its first win of the TATA Motors JCA League season 2015-2016 with a comfortable victory over Emerio CC in a Division 1 encounter on Saturday at the GMIS ground.

Winning the toss and bowling first, Emerio, undefeated in the league so far, got it right yet again and had GMIS reeling at 110/6 after 24 overs.

Just when it seemed that Emerio was running away with the game, a fine rearguard action by Jalaj Chaturvedi and Maulik Trivedi, scoring their maiden half-centuries of the season, helped GMIS post a respectable score of 207 runs before being all out.

The two batsmen were dismissed for 55 runs each. For Emerio, Vijay Krishnan once again did well with the ball, taking 5 wickets and conceding 40 runs. Harish Vaidyanathan took 2/19.

Carrying the momentum from the batting into the field, early strikes by GMIS through the bowling of Mohammad Imran and Karan Tiwari pegged Emerio back, reducing the team to 37/6 at the first drinks break after 12 overs.

Despite a defiant unbeaten 53 runs by David Surjit, Emerio was all out for 107 runs, conceding its first loss and GMIS'€™ first win of the season, by 100 runs. Mohammad Imran finished with figures of 5/19, while Karan Tiwari and Bharat Dholakandi chipped in with 2 wickets each.

In Divison 2, a fine all-round display by Kiruba Sankar helped Metro CC maintain its winning ways when it handed Mavecrics CC its first defeat of the season, by 129 runs. Winning the toss and batting first, Metro maintained a healthy run-rate throughout its innings, which helped it achieve a par score of 280/9 in 35 overs.

Kiruba Sankar scored 77 runs, while hard-hitting batsman and skipper Prabhukaliraj scored 32 runs. Pradeep Patnaik and Miraz Monga took 3/41 and 3/60, respectively. The Mavecrics never looked good in the chase, as it lost wickets regularly to be all-out for 151 runs, losing the match by 129 runs. Kiruba once again contributed, this time with the ball, taking 4/23.

In another game between Jaguars CC and Fez Rebels at Cibubur, the Jaguars maintained its winning streak by defeating the Rebels by a whopping 160 runs. Winning the toss and batting first, the Jaguars posted an impressive 270 runs in its 35 overs. The batting was lead by the in-form Dhimanshu Raghuwanshi, who scored 75 runs, supported by Ansar Subramanian (53 runs).

For the Rebels, OP Rajesh took 3/29, while Steve Barber (2/36) and Justin (2/33) supported with the ball. In response, the Rebels, who were 73/2 after 12 overs, lost their last 8 wickets for next to nothing to be all out for 110 runs, handing Jaguars their third consecutive victory. Cameron Knox (30 runs) and Warwick Peters (31 runs) scored with the bat, while Ansar Subramanian contributed with the ball, taking 4/14, supported by Jagdeep Singh (2/24).

In a Divison 1 game at Cibubur on Sunday, Senayan CC beat TKCC by 7 wickets. Being asked to bat first upon losing the toss, TKCC was all out for 176 runs. Neeraj Chaddha scored 30 runs while Hitesh Malhotra scored 29. For Senayan CC, Malcom Monteiro took 4/41 while the Kapadia brothers, Amar and Raj, took 2 wickets each.

Senayan then went on to chase down the target in the 24th over, losing only 3 wickets, largely aided by Amar Kapadia, who scored a fine half-century, and Parag Haldankar'€™s unbeaten 30 runs. Rakesh AS (2/46) and Swaroop Chavan (1/33) shared the wickets.
